Many of my projects for Congregation Kehilath Jeshurun involve creating promotional pieces for their events. A typical project includes a poster for the Synagogue’s display boards as well as derivatives (print flyer, thumbnail, and web banner).
Creating a design that works across four different sizes is challenging. Elements that have been formatted for a poster must then be manipulated to fit non-proportional derivatives, all while maintaining a balanced presentation.
This particular project is one of my favorites. I created minimalistic shapes and lines to fill in negative spaces and bring the piece to completion. I often find pre-existing design elements to be limiting, and therefore prefer creating my own through the use of the pen tool.
